Before you upload
Getting your file ready
Large posters are printed in full colour on one side, then trimmed to the size you choose: A2, A1, A0 or your own custom size. Portrait or landscape both work. Four quick checks and your posters will come out just the way you pictured them. Not sure about something? Ask us and we'll gladly take a look.
Add 5mm bleed on every side
Make your file 10mm wider and 10mm taller than the size you want. That's 5mm extra on every side, called bleed. Stretch your background right to the edge of your file, so no white line shows after trimming. The table shows the file size for each poster.
Need a custom size?
Choose Custom in step 2 and enter your width and height. We can print from 200mm up to 1350mm one way and 3000mm the other, so banners and long panoramas are fine too. Portrait or landscape, one page per poster.
Keep text away from the edges
Keep words, logos and contact details at least 5mm in from the cut line. A tiny bit of movement is normal when cutting, so this stops anything important getting clipped off the edge.
Upload a PDF
Save as a single-page PDF, up to 20MB, with your fonts embedded. Use images that are 150–300 dpi at full poster size, and CMYK colour. Leave off any crop marks, or they'll print on your posters.

Frequently Asked Questions
To ensure clear, professional results, always upload your file in high resolution.
We accept the following file types:
- PDF (recommended)
- .png (minimum quality 300DPI)
For Microsoft Word or Publisher files, saving as a PDF is recommended to prevent layout shifts.
2) Printing Responsibility
Customers are responsible for ensuring that all artwork, designs, and files are correct and meet the required specifications.
3) File Readiness & Compatibility
Please make sure your file is print-ready before uploading.
Files that are corrupted, damaged, password-protected, or in unsupported formats may not be printed.
However, we do not refund for print errors caused by file corruption and do not cover freight costs for reprints.
4) Fonts, Logos & Symbols
Ensure all fonts, logos, signatures, and symbols are fully embedded in your file.
If these elements are not embedded, they may appear incorrectly or not print at all.
5) Colour Format
Use CMYK colour settings to help ensure your print colours match what you see on screen.
Files in RGB may appear differently once printed.
If you do not want a white border on your poster please supply your file with 5mm internal and external print bleed.
Understanding external bleed:
A 5mm print bleed is the extra space added around the edges of your design to make sure there are no white borders when the product is trimmed to its final size.
When printers cut your design, the cutting isn’t always perfectly exact — it can shift slightly. So, by extending your background colours, images, or patterns 5mm past the trim line, you make sure that even if the cut is a little off, the design still goes right to the edge with no gaps.
Understanding internal bleed:
An internal bleed (or safe zone) is the space inside the edge of your design that you should keep clear of important stuff — like text, logos, or key images.
When your design is trimmed after printing, the cut can shift slightly. If your words or logo are too close to the edge, they might get chopped off or look uneven. To avoid that, designers leave an internal bleed (safe zone) — usually about 5mm inside the trim line — where nothing important should be placed.
We want you to be satisfied with your order. Below are the situations where refunds, replacements, or reprints may or may not be offered.
Refunds or Replacements may be Provided When:
Product is Damaged: If your item arrives damaged or the print is flawed, we will gladly offer a refund, replacement, or reprint.
Printing Errors Caused by Us: If there's a mistake in the design, sizing, or layout due to our error, we’ll correct it with a reprint or refund.
Incorrect Items Received: If you receive the wrong product or if it differs significantly from what was ordered, we’ll make it right.
Refunds may Not be Provided When:
You Change Your Mind: We do not offer refunds for orders canceled due to a change of heart after purchase.
Customer Errors in Submitted Files: Refunds are not available for typos, low-resolution images, or design issues that were approved during proofing.
Wear and Tear Over Time: Prints may naturally fade or degrade with use, which is not considered a defect.
Incorrect Selections by the Customer: Choosing the wrong size, color, or style at checkout is not eligible for a refund or replacement.
Colours are different to screen: When you look at colours on a screen, like a phone, tablet, or computer, you’re seeing light.
But when you print, there’s no light shining through the paper. Printers use CMYK colour, which stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. These inks absorb and reflect light instead of glowing. That means colours often look a bit darker, duller, or less vibrant than they do on screen.
Quick answers
Common questions
Can't see your question? Call us on 08 8688 2115 or send us a message.
What size should my file be?
Make your file 10mm wider and 10mm taller than your finished poster, which adds 5mm of bleed on every side. For A2 that's 430 × 604 mm, for A1 604 × 851 mm, and for A0 851 × 1199 mm. Stretch your background right to the edge of your file, and keep text and logos at least 5mm in from the cut line.
Can I get a custom size?
Yes. Choose Custom in step 2 and type in the width and height you need in millimetres, and your price updates straight away. We can print from 200mm up to 1350mm one way and 3000mm the other. Remember to add 5mm bleed to every side of your file, so a 1000 × 2000 mm poster needs a 1010 × 2010 mm file. Need something bigger? Contact us for a quote.
What paper do you use?
All our large posters are printed on premium 200gsm gloss in full colour on one side. It's bright and smooth, so colours and photos really stand out. Need a poster for outdoors? Ask us about waterproof poster film or printing on vinyl.
Will my poster have a white border?
Not if your file includes bleed. Add 5mm to every side with your background running right to the edge, and we'll trim it to a clean finish with no white edges. If your file is the finished size with no bleed, a thin white edge may show after trimming.
What resolution do my images need to be?
Aim for 150–300 dpi at full poster size. Big posters are usually seen from further away, so 150 dpi often looks great. A photo that looks sharp on your phone can look blurry when it's blown up to A0, so use the original, full-size image where you can. Choose “Check my file” in step 3 if you're not sure.
Can you check my file before printing?
Yes. Choose “Check my file” in step 3 and we'll check your file's size, bleed, resolution and colour setup before printing, and contact you if anything needs fixing. We don't check spelling or wording. If you skip the check, your posters are printed exactly as supplied, and a reprint caused by something in the file is charged.
I don't have a design yet. Where do I start?
Grab one of our free A2, A1 or A0 Canva templates in “Getting your file ready” above. Or choose “Template” in step 1 to pick one of our designs and fill in your details, and we'll email you a PDF proof within 3 working days. Want something made just for you? Choose “Custom design” and we'll create 2–3 concepts for you to choose from. Please check your spelling carefully on your proof, as we print exactly what's approved.
Do you have free Canva templates?
Yes, for A2, A1 and A0. They're already set to the right size with the 5mm bleed included, so you just add your design.
- Click the A2, A1 or A0 template button in “Getting your file ready” above.
- Click Use template in Canva. You'll need to log in or create a free Canva account. This saves your own copy to your Canva account, so you can come back to it any time.
- Add your design. Keep words and logos inside the blue dotted line, 10mm in from the edge of the page.
- When you're finished, delete the TB Print instructions box and the blue dotted safe zone line. They're only there to guide you. The purple guide lines don't print, so you can leave those.
