Frequently Asked Questions

Before you upload

Getting your file ready

A4 posters are printed in full colour on one side, then trimmed to 210 × 297 mm. Portrait or landscape both work. Four quick checks and your posters will come out just the way you pictured them. Not sure about something? Ask us and we'll gladly take a look.

Make sure your file is 216 × 303 mm

This is the size before we trim it to A4, 210 × 297 mm. The extra 3mm on every side is called bleed. Stretch your background right to the edge of your file, so no white line shows after trimming.

One page, portrait or landscape

Posters are printed on one side only, so send a single-page PDF. Set it up portrait (216 × 303 mm) or landscape (303 × 216 mm), whichever suits your design.

Keep text away from the edges

Keep words, logos and contact details at least 5mm in from the cut line. A tiny bit of movement is normal when cutting, so this stops anything important getting clipped off the edge.

Upload a PDF

Save as a PDF, up to 20MB, with your fonts embedded. Use 300 dpi images and CMYK colour. Leave off any crop marks, or they'll print on your posters.

Start from a free Canva template

Already set to 216 × 303 mm with the bleed, cut line and safe zone marked, so you just add your design and save as a PDF.

Choose your paper

Both are printed in full colour on one side. Pick yours in step 2.

300gsm card Heavyweight

A thick, sturdy card that stands up to handling. Great for signs, displays, menus on the counter and anything that needs to last.

Quick answers

Common questions

Can't see your question? Call us on 08 8688 2115 or send us a message.

What size should my file be?

Make your file 216 × 303 mm for portrait, or 303 × 216 mm for landscape. This is the size before we trim it to A4 (210 × 297 mm). The extra 3mm on every side is called bleed, so stretch your background right to the edge of your file. Keep your text and logos at least 5mm in from the cut line.

Which paper should I choose?

200gsm gloss is a bright, glossy poster paper that makes colours and photos stand out, so it's perfect for walls, noticeboards and windows. 300gsm card is thicker and sturdier, so it's better for signs, counter displays and anything that gets handled. Both are printed in full colour on one side.

Can you print on both sides?

Our A4 posters are printed on one side only. If you need something double-sided, have a look at our A4 Coloured Printing or contact us and we'll find the best option.

Will my poster have a white border?

Not if your file includes bleed. Make your file 216 × 303 mm with your background running right to the edge, and we'll trim it to a clean A4 with no white edges. If your file is exactly 210 × 297 mm with no bleed, a thin white edge may show after trimming.

Can you check my file before printing?

Yes. Choose “Check my file” in step 3 and we'll check your file's size, bleed, resolution and colour setup before printing, and contact you if anything needs fixing. We don't check spelling or wording. If you skip the check, your posters are printed exactly as supplied, and a reprint caused by something in the file is charged.

I don't have a design yet. Where do I start?

We have a free A4 poster Canva template in “Getting your file ready” above. Or choose “Template” in step 1 to pick one of our designs and fill in your details, and we'll email you a PDF proof within 3 working days. Want something made just for you? Choose “Custom design” and we'll create 2–3 concepts for you to choose from. Please check your spelling carefully on your proof, as we print exactly what's approved.

How do I use your free Canva template?

The template is already set to the right size with the 3mm bleed included, so you just add your design.

  1. Click A4 poster template in “Getting your file ready” above.
  2. Click Use template in Canva. You'll need to log in or create a free Canva account. This saves your own copy to your Canva account, so you can come back to it any time.
  3. Add your design. Keep words and logos inside the blue dotted line, 5mm in from the cut.
  4. When you're finished, delete the TB Print instructions box and the blue dotted safe zone line. They're only there to guide you. The purple guide lines don't print, so you can leave those.
  5. Click Share, then Download, and choose PDF Print. Leave “Crop marks and bleed” unticked, then click Download.
  6. Upload your PDF in step 1 at the top of this page.
Do you do other poster sizes?

Yes. For something bigger, see our A3 Posters. For posters from A2 right up to A0, or a custom size, see our Large Format Posters.

How will my posters get to me?

All orders are printed and sent from our shop in Tumby Bay with Australia Post, Australia wide. Orders placed on weekends and public holidays are processed on the next working day. We don't offer weekend or next-day delivery.

What if something's wrong with my order?

If your posters arrive damaged, we made a mistake, or you received the wrong item, we'll reprint, replace or refund them. We can't offer refunds for a change of mind, mistakes in the file you supplied such as typos or low-resolution images, or options chosen incorrectly at checkout. Please contact us and we'll sort it out.
