How to use a Canva template
- Pick your template. Find your product below and tap its template button. It opens in Canva.
- Click “Use template”. You'll need to log in or create a free Canva account. This saves your own copy.
- Add your design. Run backgrounds right to the edge of the page, and keep words and logos inside the purple guide lines. Can't see them? Click File, then Rulers and guides, then Show rulers and guides (Shift+R).
- Delete the TB Print instructions box. The purple guide lines don't print, so you can leave those. Some templates have a few extra things to delete — we've noted them under the product.
- Download as a PDF. Click Share, then Download, and choose PDF Print. Leave “Crop marks and bleed” unticked, then click Download.
- Upload your PDF. Add the product to your cart and upload your file in step 1 on its page.
Bleed, cut line and safe zone — and tips for every file
- BleedA little extra background around the edge of your design that gets trimmed off, so no white line shows if the cut moves a fraction.
- Cut lineWhere we trim. It's the edge of your finished product, and the outer line in our templates.
- Safe zoneThe area inside the cut line where your words, logos and faces stay safe from being clipped. It's the inner purple line in our templates.
- PDF is the best format. Most products also take PNG or JPG — check the product below. Files can be up to 20MB.
- Use sharp pictures. Aim for 300 dpi at the size they print (a little less is fine on big posters and signs).
- Set your colours up in CMYK, and embed your fonts. Very bright blues, greens and neons usually print a touch calmer than they look on screen.
- Leave off crop marks and trim marks — they'll print if they're in your file.
- Using Word, Publisher or another program? You don't need Canva. Use the sizes and bleed listed under your product and save as a PDF.

Envelopes are already made before we print them, so there's no bleed. We print on the front, the side without the flap.
- Set your file to
- The finished envelope size: DL 220 × 110 mm · DLX 235 × 120 mm · C5 229 × 162 mm · C4 324 × 229 mm · B4 353 × 250 mm. C5, C4 and B4 can be landscape or portrait.
- Safe zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 12mm in from every edge. Leave plain white around the outside.
- How much can print
- DL and C5: a full design is fine. DLX, C4 and B4: small print only (a logo and return address, up to a quarter of the front).
- Window DL
- The window is 95 × 28 mm, 32mm from the left and 16mm from the bottom.
- File
- Single-page PDF or PNG, up to 20MB. CMYK colour, 300 dpi. No crop marks.

- Set your file to
- 303 × 216 mm, landscape and flat, with 2 pages. Flat finished size is 297 × 210 mm.
- Bleed
- 3mm on every side.
- Pages
- Page 1 is the outside: flap, back cover, front cover from left to right. Page 2 is the inside. The panels aren't quite equal: 98, 99 and 100 mm outside, 100, 99 and 98 mm inside. The 98mm panel is the flap.
- Safe zone
- At least 3mm in from the cut line and 5mm either side of each fold.

- PDF with no fold lines or crop marks.

Cut from solid coloured vinyl, so this one isn't a Canva job — photos, JPGs, PNGs and most Canva downloads can't be cut.

- Every line, gap and letter at least 2mm wide at the finished size.
- Colours
- One or two flat colours, no photos, gradients or shadows. For two colours, put each on its own layer. Need three or more? Ask for a quote.

Your A-frame comes with two corflute inserts, one for each side. They're printed on vinyl, wrapped around the edge, then slide into the frame. Portrait only.

- Set up your PDF as single pages, not spreads. Page 1 is the front cover, then your inside pages in reading order, and the last page is the back cover. We arrange the pages for folding.
- Pages go up in 4s
- 8, 12, 16 and so on, up to 48 pages (40 for Premium). Count every page, including the covers. If your file isn't a multiple of 4, we add blank pages at the back.

- Single pages, in order
- Page 1 is the front cover, then your inside pages in reading order. The back cover is plain card, so you don't need to design it. Want a blank page? Put one in your PDF.
- Spiral edge
- Keep text, logos and anything important at least 12mm clear of the spiral. Pages print on both sides, so the spiral is on the left of the front of each sheet and the right of the back. Landscape books are bound along the top.
- Budget
- Small white border — keep text and pictures at least 5mm from the edge.
- Premium
- Prints to the edge. Add 3mm bleed all round and keep text 5mm inside the trim.
- File
